Gösta Appelkvist started his business as far back as 1945 and today the company is still run by the same family having developed into a little group of companies specialising in food products.

Gösta Appelkvist Fryseri AB. is located in Simrishamn and Umeå and is occupied with traditional cold storage and freezing services such as cleaning and freezing of berries, fish and poultry products in flat or band freezers. We also function as a commercial and cold storage plant with a capacity of 25 000 tons. Apart from storage freezers and six tunnel freezers with a capacity of 150 tons every 24 hours, there are even 8 vertical and horizontal freezers and 1 bandfreezer.

The plant has been approved by The National Food Administration, The European Union and by KRAV.

Since 1977 we have been involved in the berry business, storing, cleaning and freezing. To be nearer to the berry market of Northern Sweden and at the same time to raise the quality of the berries we handle, we established a smaller freezing and cold storage plant in Umeå. It has a capacity of 30 tons every 24 hours and is only open during the berry-picking season.

In 1997 we invested in the very latest electronic sorting and cleaning equipment and now have one of the country's most modern cleaning plants for berries. We have continued to invest in order to be a modern and effective partner with our customers for both ecological and conventional berries.

Lantfågel in Simrishamn is another company within the group. Here we produce and sell Swedish turkeys and other deep frozen poultry products such as filets of chicken, legs of chicken etc., for sale to retailers and restraurant wholesalers.
